Domains

Connecting your domain name to LightFunnels allows you to hide the lightfunnels branding from your storefront, making your pages look more professional.

By default, your site is always accessible via a Lightfunnels subdomain (youraccount.mylightfunnels.com). Custom domains allow you to access your site via one or more domain names.

Go to your LightFunnels settings and choose Domains. From there you can:

  1. Go to Settings → Domains and click Connect existing.
  2. Enter your domain name or subdomain (e.g. www.example.com) and click Next.
  3. You are taken to the setup page for your domain, where you can set it up automatically or manually.

Your plan includes a number of custom domains. Once you reach that limit, every additional domain you add is charged $3.00 per month, added automatically to your monthly invoice. LightFunnels asks you to confirm (Yes, add new domain) before adding a paid domain. You can see your extra domains on your billing page.

If your domain is hosted on Namecheap or GoDaddy, you can use our Chrome extension, Lightfunnels domain connector, to add the DNS records for you. On the setup page, under Set-up automatically, click Install extension and follow the instructions.

Under Set-up manually, the setup page shows the exact records to add, along with the current value it finds for each record. You need to edit your domain name’s DNS records so that your root domain name ( e.g. yourwebsite.com ) or subdomain name ( e.g. funnels.yourwebsite.com ) points to your LightFunnels account.

Setting up your root domain ( yourwebsite.com )

Section titled “Setting up your root domain ( yourwebsite.com )”
  1. Log in to your domain name service
  2. Choose your domain name
  3. Look for the DNS settings
  4. You need to add the following DNS settings.
Type Name Value
CNAME www shop.mylightfunnels.com

If a DNS setting with the same name and type already exists, you will need to update its value. Now your main domain (www.yourwebsite.com) is setup.

Step 2. Point your root domain to LightFunnels

Section titled “Step 2. Point your root domain to LightFunnels”

Add an A record for your root domain (yourwebsite.com):

Type Name Value
A @ 5.161.37.0

Remove any other A or AAAA records on @, and turn off any redirect or forwarding your registrar has set up for the root domain.

Visitors who open yourwebsite.com are sent to www.yourwebsite.com automatically, with HTTPS.

Setting up your subdomain ( go.yourwebsite.com )

Section titled “Setting up your subdomain ( go.yourwebsite.com )”

If you want to only point a subdomain to your LightFunnels account, without changing your main domain, login to your domain name service then go to the DNS settings of your domain and add a CNAME like this:

Type Name Value
CNAME funnels shop.mylightfunnels.com

This will result in a subdomain like funnels.yourwebsite.com. You can change “funnels” to any subdomain that you want.

On the setup page, click Verify connection once your records are added. If something is still missing, the page shows which record is not correct yet, and you can click Verify again later.

You can come back to the setup page at any time: go to Settings → Domains, open the actions menu next to your domain and click Check connection.

Keep in mind that the DNS propagation can take from a few minutes to 72 hours. So your changes may or may not appear on LightFunnels right away.

The domains list shows each domain’s status and SSL status. Open the actions menu next to a domain to:

  • Make primary – set this domain as your primary domain. It shows a Primary domain badge.
  • Enable redirection – automatically redirect visitors from this domain to your primary domain (Auto redirects to primary domain). Click Disable redirection to turn it off.
  • Set home funnel – choose the funnel visitors see when they open the root of this domain (for example, example.com). Select a funnel and click Save. The selected funnel is shown next to the domain as Home Funnel.
  • Delete domain – remove the domain from your account.

Domains connected to a store show Manage in store instead; manage them from that store’s settings.
